Better Engine Cooling with a Toyota Water Pump

Although internal combustion engine of Toyota vehicles have advanced both in design and engineering over the years, they are still not perfectly efficient in converting chemical energy into heat. As much as 70 percent of the energy generated from gasoline by your car engine is converted into heat. And though heat is essential in the optimum performance of the engine, too much heat can cause the engine to break down and malfunction. Also, an overheating situation can also lead to further problems such as warped heads, blown head gaskets, and a number of cracks and tears in the engine that can seriously undermine its performance and may shorten its service life. And in order to avoid this, most internal combustion engines use a liquid coolant to disperse excess heat from the engine. Water is often used as an effective engine coolant, though ethylene glycol is sometimes added to reduce the freezing point. And in order for the liquid coolant to circulate in the engine, your Toyota employs a Toyota Water Pump.
The heart of the cooling system of almost all automobiles, the water pump is responsible for keeping the great temperature created by the internal combustion process of your engine at bay. Basically a centrifugal pump, the water pump is driven by a belt connected to the crankshaft of the engine and works by circulating the coolant from the radiator, through the engine, and back to the radiator. The water pump contains a shaft with a pulley on one end and a pump rotor on the other end. When the pulley is spun by the belt, the rotor begins to circulate the coolant around. The Toyota Water Pump has an inlet near the center so the coolant returning from the radiator hits the pump vanes. The pump vanes then hurl the coolant to the outside of the water pump, where it enters the engine.
There are many types of automotive water pumps that serve different applications, but most include a rotating impeller that transmits the coolant through the engine block. As for some models such as the AE86 Trueno, which have a rear wheel drive configuration, the fan is located on the end of the shaft of the Toyota Water Pump. These automotive water pumps usually have a spring-loaded seal to prevent water leakage around the pump shaft. Some water pumps are also come with pre-packed ball bearings sealed at each end so lubrication is no longer necessary. But whatever the type of water pump that is installed in your Toyota, it is always important to keep it at tip top shape. A defective or a worn out water pump may not function properly and cause your engine to overheat, and that is why it is important that the water pump of your car must be checked regular basis. And good way to check up on your Toyota Water Pump is to regularly visit your mechanic and have your engine and cooling system thoroughly inspected. A good mechanic will often be able to spot the defects and signs of wear on your water pump and other parts of the cooling system.
