Choosing the Toyota that's right for you
There are several things to consider when purchasing a new car including safety, comfort, driving impressions, gas mileage, vehicle size, brand and price to name a few. In making your choice, you might want to consider the opportunities available with Toyota. Toyota offers a variety of vehicles that year in and year out are renowned for their reliability, comfort and class. The Toyota Camry and Toyota Sienna in particular have been significantly successful in the United States, because of their consistent quality and reliability. In trying to decide which model could work best for you there are three main points to consider: Safety, driving impression, and resell value.
Safety
Toyota Camry
The Camry has long been considered as the “safe” choice in the family sedan class because of the value buyers get from their vehicle. The Camry is not best known for a flashy design, rather, for refinement and safety. Antilock brakes are the standard for all Camry models making the basic model more trustworthy. In addition, front, side, and full length side airbags are optional on all models. In its crash tests, the Camry faired extremely well earning a perfect five for frontal impact-protection and a four star rating for side-impact crashes. In the IIHS frontal-offset testing, the Camry earned the highest possible rating (“Good”) and was ultimately named “Best Pick.” From these results, it is no wonder that the Camry is popular as a family vehicle, impressing families by its combination of both the reliability of its engine and structural design, to its high crash-testing results.
Toyota Sienna
Similar to the Camry, the Sienna has remarkable safety ratings. Beginning with its crash rankings, the Sienna received four stars for drivers’ side impact and five stars for the passenger, front occupant, and rear occupant locations. These rankings are slightly higher than the Camry in a couple of areas, which might be something you’ll want to consider for your family. In addition, the Sienna comes with several standard safety features such as all wheel anti-lock brakes, child seat lower anchorage, integrated safety belts and a tire pressure monitor. The Toyota Sienna is better suited for a larger family that would require some of these amenities.
Driving Impression
The Toyota Camry provides a predictable and usable driving experience that simply meets the needs of its driver. This feature makes the car particularly preferable for family use, meeting the daily commuting needs without being too flashy or extravagant. The simplicity of the ride makes it pleasant yet bordering on the luxurious. For this reason, the Camry is the type of vehicle that you don’t have to think about while driving, it removes variables and concerns by its simple convenience.
The Toyota Sienna, on the other hand, might cause its drivers to feel a little more self-conscious about their car, simply because of its size. However, the Sienna was built to drive like a car, incorporating a responsive and stable steering system with a smooth ride. The makers of Sienna are doing everything possible to make driving a mini-van more enjoyable; but that still does not defeat the point that you are driving a larger vehicle. The Sienna therefore will provide a relatively similar driving experience to the Camry, with the primary difference being the size of the vehicle and whether or not this will irritate a driver when backing up, or driving around a city.
Resell Value
Finally, buyers are often concerned with the resell value of their vehicles—especially when bought new. This should not be a worry when buying a used Toyota, simply because of the durability of the engine, parts and vehicle frame. Both the Camry and Sienna maintain a high value even after several years and miles have passed by. When selecting your used Toyota, make sure you investigate the seller, vehicle history, and other variables that might influence the value of your purchase. In spite of the general value of the Toyota brand, the vehicle could be damaged in some way that would abbreviate its durability.
Both the Camry and Sienna excel in the areas mentioned in this article. The most critical aspect of choosing between the two vehicles is selecting a model that will meet your needs in regards to space, driving impression and safety.
